Experienced IT Systems Engineer (SCOM) - Brussel

SUMMARY OF POSITION
• Customer: multinational enterprise customer in chemical & plastics sector;
• Area: Brussels (easy reachable by train);
• Type of contract: contractor, freelancer, consultant;
• Start of contract: immediately, in next weeks (preferable September 2009):
• Duration of contract: per 3 months prolonged, but target is long term if candidate fulfils its tasks with success;

Profile:
o Minimum 5 year experience in IT Infrastructures;
o Most important technical skills are CITRIX, EXCHANGE, MS Operating Systems and MS Active Directory knowledge;
o General core networking skills are important;
o Microsoft back-office environment;
o Networking & Storage environment;
o You need to be able to organize yourself well and have the ability to work in a complex environment;
o You need to be able to also document/communicate on management style level (so not only pure technical);
o You need to have good human skills to work together with different people having different characters; You need to be able to build a trustworthy relationship;

YOUR JOB
You are part of the IT System Engineering Team in the IT Services and Infrastructure department. Together with your colleague System Engineers you fulfil the following tasks:
• Proactive administration and management of the IT Infrastructure to optimize the system performance and the availability;
• You intervene in different Corporate IT Infrastructure projects in which you are headed for by Project Managers;
• You document the system architecture on behalf of the engineers of the Call Desk and the IT Operations Center who ensure the 1st and 2nd line support;
• You supply the 3rd line support and manage the Problem Reports which are assigned to you in this frame;
• You participate to the 24/7 Duty schema by which you are on guard on a regular basis to solve problems with critical systems;
• You follow the evolution of a specific technologic area;
• You create, build, test and document standard configurations for infrastructure element such as servers, storage network elements, …;
• You follow the standard project methodology of the customer for the delivery of your tasks and projects;

YOUR PROFILE

Broad IT-knowledge in one or more of the below specified technical domains (in this order of importance):
1. Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM & SCOM);
2. MS Operating Systems;
3. MS Active Directory;
4. Server virtualization (VMWARE);
5. IP core services (DHCP, DNS, WINS);
6. MS Exchange;
7. Server Deployment (SCCM);
8. Storage (SAN, NAS);

Other important information and skills:
• You have a master in IT or an equivalent experience;
• You are floated by technology and you are process-oriented;
• You can work independently and you remain nevertheless a team player who can book results together with your colleagues;
• You are good in writing documentation. You succeed in documenting the solution of a complicated technical problem in a clear manner;
• You can document and communicate on technical level as well as on managerial level (summarizing only the important points, making suggestions about improvements, etc.);
• You are a good coach and can handover knowledge easily to internal employees;
• ITIL-certification is a plus, ITIL awareness a must;
• You can handle stress;
• You can work in multilingual surroundings (Dutch, English, French) and you speak and write fluently Dutch and English;
• You work in the Group IT Infrastructure and Services team in Brussels;
• Occasional travel to other sites in Belgium or abroad will be necessary in the frame of the project;
