UNIX (Sun Solaris) Senior System Administrator/Engineer

Job description:
As an administrator you will deliver:
Support tasks:
• Operational support for Unix Sun Solaris Servers
• Perform troubleshooting on Unix Servers- Handle incoming requests for changes in the Unix domain and storage-related requests (eg creation, resizing filesystems)
• Co-ordinate troubleshooting of hardware & software problems with the vendors
• Address and follow-up performance issues
• Perform routine Unix admin tasks (eg: user management, packages installation)
• On-call (24/7, on turn) assistance and support in case of problems, hardware or operating system related.
Maintenance tasks:
• Day-to-day follow-up, monitoring and maintenance of the UNIX environment
• Writing of Shell-scripts (or Perl) for admin-related tasks
• Handle upgrades of OS and system software
• Follow-up on patches and version control of system software
• Document changes and update procedures
• Do planned interventions (during daytime, during night-time or weekends)
As a System Engineer, you will:
• Project implementation tasks
• Implement technical internal Unix projects following specifications from Engineering
• Act as the operational Technical Point Of Contact for projects and perform the UNIX tasks therein
• Implement service improvement solutions, automation of repetitive or fastidious operational tasks
• Document implemented solutions
Technical profile:
• Several years of experience with supporting and maintaining UNIX systems on Sun Solaris versions (8 & 9 & 10) is a must.
• Knowledge of virtualised and/or shared environments (LDOM\'s, zones)
• Strong knowledge in network administration and diagnose at Operating system level (LACP, Trunking, IPMP)
• Good knowledge in security matters, centralised user management, LDAP, Kerberos
• Operational experience with SUN midrange and high-end range of equipment (SF15K, E25K), and with the coolthread technology (T5000) integrated in a Storage Area Network (SAN) is an advantage.
• Knowledge of VERITAS Volume Manager & VERITAS File System is desirable, as well as with clustering software like VERITAS Cluster Server. Knowledge of the new Solaris integrated ZFS volume manager is welcome.
• Good knowledge with the tools that are used today to manage and organise the team work: Oracle DB, Web Server, versioning tool (SCCS)
• !!!French or Dutch speaking/English is a must!!!
